Tribune Map

Tucked along Highway 35 in the southern reaches of Saskatchewan, Tribune sits roughly 25 kilometres north of the Canada-United States border within the Rural Municipality of Souris Valley No. 7. The community is also served by the Long Creek Railroad, a reminder of the rail connections that once shaped settlement across the prairies. Tribune’s location near the international border places it in a quiet corner of the province, far from major urban centres.

Tribune has a history stretching back to February 18, 1914, when it was formally incorporated as a village. That status held for over a century before the community restructured on December 31, 2017, transitioning to an unincorporated community under the jurisdiction of the surrounding rural municipality. Population figures for Tribune have shifted considerably over recent census periods. The 2016 Census recorded 45 residents across 21 private dwellings, with a land area of 1.61 square kilometres and a population density of 28.0 people per square kilometre. By the 2021 Census, the population had declined by 44.4 percent to just 25 residents living in 10 of 13 total private dwellings, with the land area measured at 1.69 square kilometres and a population density of 14.8 people per square kilometre.
