Tucked within the Rural Municipality of Huron No. 223 and Census Division No. 7, Tugaske sits at the crossroads of Highway 367 and Highway 627 in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The village carries the informal title of Gateway to Lake Diefenbaker, reflecting its convenient position in relation to one of the province’s most notable bodies of water. Nearby, the tranquil Eyebrow Lake stretches roughly 9 kilometres in length and 1 kilometre in width within the Qu’Appelle Valley, serving as a designated bird sanctuary. That same valley is home to an eyebrow-shaped hill that gave both the lake and the village their distinctive names. Highway 627, which runs close to Eyebrow Lake, connects the surrounding region and passes through the village itself.
Tugaske formally became an incorporated village on May 7, 1909, giving it well over a century of recorded municipal history. According to the 2021 Census conducted by Statistics Canada, the village recorded a population of 79 residents occupying 44 of its 53 total private dwellings, reflecting a modest increase of 5.3 per cent compared to its 2016 count of 75. That earlier census had itself shown a notable decline of 22.7 per cent from the 2011 figure of 92 residents. The village covers a land area of 0.75 square kilometres, producing a population density of approximately 105.3 persons per square kilometre as of 2021.
